About me

I'm Nancy Watzman, and I bring deep strategic communications and
nonprofit leadership experience to mission-driven organizations that are navigating periods of growth and transition. My niche: helping teams accelerate progress and deliver high-quality work without added organizational overhead.

I began my career as an investigative researcher and journalist, my work appearing in such publications as Harper’s Magazine, The New York Times, The Washington Monthly, and The Washington Post. I’m also co-author of two books on money and influence in politics and have presented at national convenings including NICAR, Investigative Reporters & Editors, Journalism and Women Symposium, and the American Bar Association.

That early training in rigorous research, fact-based analysis, and narrative building informs my approach, whether I'm developing a new editorial offering, producing an event series, creating and implementing crisis communications plan, writing speeches or testimony, launching a startup, or assessing organizational needs and impact. I like to solve problems and get things done.
